Hours of Operation
Recycling is the first (1st) and third (3rd) Saturday of the month.
HOURS: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Located at the Department of Public Works Building at 2 Weider Road.
Acceptable Items
The Montague Township Recycling Center accepts the following items:
All Plastic Bags must be emptied; Montague Township does NOT accept plastic bags for Recycling.
***The Township reserves the right to reject any recyclable and non-recyclable items***
Bulky Waste
The Montague Recycling Center accepts Bulky Waste Items at a charge of $40 per load. Acceptable items that may be disposed of are: Furniture, Mattresses, Carpeting, Grills, and Small Appliances.

Clean Communities Program
The Montague Clean Communities program has been helping to keep our community clean and green. To help us, please report any litter problem areas to the Clean Communities program director at the Montague town hall at 973-293-7300. If you are involved in a non-profit or civic group and looking to become involved in keeping our community clean, ask about forming a clean-up brigade for an area of the township along with raising funds for your group by sending an email to deputyclerk@montaguenj.org

- Aluminum and Tin Cans
- Newspapers (*must be tied in bundles)
- Plastic Containers
- Glass Jars and Bottles
- Used Motor Oil

- Cans of wet paint
- Propane Tanks
- Tree Stumps, Branches, Brush, or Leaves
- Household Refuse
- Refrigerators, Freezers, and Air Conditioners
- Boats
- Wood Pallets
- Electronics of any kind. i.e.: Televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, tablets, cell phones, and radios.
